Located beside the famous scenic West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Sanmei Tea Co., Ltd. was founded in March of 1986 by four Chinese shareholders which includes Zhejiang Tea I/E Co., Ltd, Etc. and one Japanese shareholder now replaced by Japan Tea Culture Co., Ltd. It is the first joint-venture in the field of Chinese tea industry, with registered capital of 4.2 million US dollars and totally investment above 8 million US dollars by so far.

    The company covers scope of various kinds of tea, such as Sencha, Genmaicha, Hojicha, Green Tea Powder, which are mainly exported to Japan, Korea, South Asia, Hongkong, Macao, even West Europe and North America. Zhejiang Sanmei has its own tea farms covering more than 640 hectares including organic and organic in conversion tea plantations of about 200 hectares. The excellent environment of farms has benefited the company a lot to produce high quality teas, influencing about 3400 hectares tea farms and more than 10 thousand tea farmers nearby.     There are two production bases affiliated to the company, one is Hangzhou work, and another Nanhu work, which are equipped with 11 automatic or semi-automatic Sencha producing lines imported from Japan, 2 green tea powder producing lines, 2 refined processing centers and several packing machines for small packaging such as tea bags, etc,. The company has an annual output capacity of 3,500 tons Sencha and 1000 tons of small packed teas, and exports almost 10 million US dollars of teas per year with its sales revenues over 100 million RMB.

    Zhejiang Sanmei has achieved great reputations in the tea industry and the society over the past two decades, honourably certified by OTRDC (Organic Tea Research and Development Center) in 1999, by IMO (Institute for Marketecology) and ISO9002 quality-control system in 2000, and also by Japanese JONA organic (JAS) in 2002. Since 1998, Zhejiang Sanmei Tea Co., Ltd. has been entitled as the flagship agriculture enterprise of Zhejiang Province annually.
